Jimmy Taylor on his Medical Fellowship in Madrid

Ogden Honors College students have traveled all over the world this summer exploring their interests, honing in on their passions, and learning invaluable lessons. Jimmy Taylor traveled to Madrid, Spain with a medical fellowship to shadow physicians and work on articles ranging from healthcare style and patient behaviors to the impact culture has on how we interact with one another.

Jimmy Taylor2His fellowship was focused on enhancing his understanding of healthcare on a global scale. Taylor learned about public vs. private healthcare and patient-doctor relations in different cultures.

“I spent about 5 hours in the hospital each week day and saw about 25 patients during consultations and about 3-6 during surgery days,” Taylor said.

This was Taylor’s second year traveling to Madrid with Atlantis Global, the program through which he received the fellowship. “I have seen incredible feats of medicine, spoken to locals, spoken to physicians, and matured as a man,” Taylor said. “From medicine to just how to be kind to people, the lessons have been numerous.”
