Manon Lescaut is a classic story of illicit passion, punishment, and finally tragic redemption in the wilds of eighteenth-century Louisiana. This class will look at successive adaptations of this tale, tracking how the chosen form – be it novel, opera, or movie – transforms the meaning and moral of this icon of world literature.
